The story
A place apart
Set high on the resort's lakeside terraces, the King Lake Room distils the house style into fifty composed square metres: walls of grey microcement and fluted timber, a king bed crowned by a coral-leather headboard, and a single vertical panel of hand-woven tibeb that carries the colour of the Wollo highlands indoors.
Full-height glazing draws the eye to a private balcony and the still expanse of Lake Hayk beyond, with the Istifanos monastery's peninsula reading faintly across the water. A writing desk, a wardrobe with luggage bench, and a discreet minibar and coffee station are arranged with the restraint of a residence rather than a room.
The bathroom is finished in warm beige stone, with a deep soaking tub and a frameless walk-in shower, fogless and full-height mirrors, and branded amenities laid on folded linen. Original Ethiopian artwork and brass detailing complete a space that feels collected rather than decorated.
